|
Julius Caesar was assassinated on March 15,44 B.C . When Julius Caesar died Octavian(his son) and Marc Antony(his right hand man) were given power over Rome. However, in 32 B.C Mark Antony was planning on giving his empire to Cleopatra. This resulted in a battle between Octavian and Antony which ended in 31 B.C when Octavian was able to defeat Cleopatra and Antony at Actium. After Octavian defeated Antony, he became the ruler of Rome and its official emperor. He received the name Augustus which means "The great one."
